Experience and Education
As an experienced trust officer and attorney, Nick coordinates and manages trust administration and helps the firm deliver corporate trustee and estate advisory services.
Prior to joining Mariner Wealth Advisors, Nick spent six years with Country Club Trust Company as an associate vice president and trust officer. In that role, he counseled clients on estate planning, investment and tax issues. He also administered trusts, probate estates and conservatorships. Nick gained significant experience handling the management and disposition of assets such as real estate, closely held business interests, fine art and other personal property.
Nick’s past experience also includes clerking for the Department of Homeland Security where he provided legal research for government attorneys and litigated cases before the Immigration Court.
Nick has a bachelor’s degree from the Kansas City Art Institute. He also holds a juris doctor from Washburn University School of Law and is a licensed attorney in the state of Kansas. He is a member of the Kansas and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations and a member of the Kansas City Estate Planning Society. He is a graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions leadership program.
Nick is president of the Union Hill Special Business District, a board member of the Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts and a finance committee member for the Charlotte Street Foundation. He is a graduate of the Art Leaders Class of 2016 at The Nelson–Atkins Museum of Art and a former Corporate Giving Committee member of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. He is also a former Lead to Read volunteer.
