Experience and education

J.P. is a founding member of Mariner’s Investment Strategy Group (“ISG”), where he currently serves as director. J.P. and the team are responsible for partnering with advisors and clients to design and implement customized investment solutions that leverage the full breadth of Mariner’s investment platform and ecosystem. ISG serves as a strategic resource and collaborator for advisors and clients to better understand and align client investment objectives with portfolio solutions while navigating complex client investment and allocation decisions. J.P. and the team are also regular contributors to Mariner’s investment outlook pieces and market perspective.

Prior to this role, J.P. served as a portfolio manager and key decision maker on Mariner’s Equity Team. He joined the team during the early stages as a product specialist and that role quickly evolved into being a utility player that wore many different hats to help drive the build out and scaling of Mariner’s internal equity platform.

Before joining Mariner, J.P. worked at Touchstone Investments, where he served as a regional sales specialist and consulted with financial advisors on institutional manager selection and portfolio construction. J.P. started his career as a bank teller.

J.P. has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Kentucky.

Personal interests

Away from the office, J.P. enjoys spending time with his family, he is a leader for his son’s Scouting, a market junkie and avid Kentucky basketball and FC Cincinnati fan.
