Experience and education

Thomas is responsible for the oversight and management of client relationships, striving to exceed client expectations by delivering excellent service through developing investment policy guidelines, optimizing investment portfolios, selecting investment managers, presenting performance-monitoring reports and conducting trustee education on a wide range of investment topics. He also helps to ensure clients receive accurate documentation and reports on their timeline, maintaining current knowledge of each client’s manager lineup and general market issues. Thomas acts as the primary point of contact in relation to all servicing issues related to the client and is required to be proactive in communication regarding portfolios, firm and plan issues as they arise. He may also leverage Mariner’s colleagues as required in order to meet the clients’ varying needs.

Thomas has more than 16 years of experience in the retirement industry. Prior to Mariner, he served as a retirement plan services manager for Arvest Wealth Management. He was also a retirement account manager for Alerus Retirement and Benefits.

Thomas has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota and an MBA from the University of Colorado in Denver.

NAPA named Thomas as a 2019 Young Gun and as an Ace in 2020-2022 as part of its Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisors Under 40 list.

Personal interests

Thomas’ hobbies include spending time with his wife and three children, golfing and visiting his family’s farm in North Dakota. He is also a Green Bay Packers fan.
