Experience and Education

Kurt provides personalized wealth planning solutions for high-net-worth individuals, families and business owners. He designs and implements customized wealth plans with a focus on clients’ long-term objectives and cash flow needs. He also provides integrated planning and strategies for growing and protecting wealth, including tax and estate planning, risk management and retirement planning.

Prior to joining Mariner, Kurt was president of Financial Planning Group and worked in the marketing division with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico. He developed content for the Banco Popular financial education program, which he presented through workshops, seminars and radio and television segments. He joined Banco Popular when he merged his financial planning practice with the Financial Planning Unit of Banco Popular. He is also currently a professor of personal finance at the University of Puerto Rico.

Kurt holds a BA in Spanish with a minor in economics from the State University of New York at Oswego, an MS in financial services (planning) from The American College of Financial Services and a Ph.D. in personal financial planning from Kansas State University. His recent research has been focused on the financial capability of Hispanics in the U.S. with the FINRA Foundation.

Personal Interests

Kurt is a member of the Financial Therapy Association, the Financial Planning Association and the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education. Away from the office, he enjoys the financial education of Puerto Rico’s youth and older adult populations. He also enjoys golf and wine. He has dedicated many years of service to the Boy Scouts Puerto Rico Council and the Ricky Martin Foundation.
