Alan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Experience and Education

Alan is responsible for managed investment research for Mariner and oversees the management of the firm’s internally managed model portfolios.

Before joining Mariner, Alan was the chief investment officer at Cornerstone Wealth Management where he managed a fee-based advisory platform. Prior to that, he was the chief market strategist at Edward Jones where he served on the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and helped launch Advisory Solutions. In addition to his work at Cornerstone and Edward Jones, Alan has taught classes in retirement planning at the University of Missouri.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-St Louis, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.

Alan has been a frequent commentator on national financial networks, publications and industry conferences. He has also authored the book, Principle Based Investing.

Personal Interests

Alan and his wife, Julie, have been married for 34 years and have three children, Drew, Allison and Jack. He enjoys traveling, golf and time with his family.
