Experience and Education

Jeff provides comprehensive financial planning to high-net-worth individuals and their families. With more than 25 years in the financial planning and investment management industry, Jeff’s experience includes financial and estate planning, income tax compliance, cash flow management and contingency planning, personal finance and law.

Prior to joining Mariner, Jeff was a cofounder and principal of Patriot Wealth Management, Inc. Prior to that, Jeff worked for Kanaly Trust Company as senior vice president and senior financial advisor. Before joining Kanaly, Jeff specialized in commercial litigation and business transactions as a civil litigation attorney with the law firm of Hoover, Bax & Slovacek, L.L.P. Jeff worked in the insurance and general business tax areas for KPMG Peat Marwick prior to attending law school, and worked during law school for Scurlock Permian Corp. and Anderson & Associates.

Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master’s in Professional Accounting (MPA) with a concentration in taxation, both from the University of Texas. He holds a doctor of jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. He is also a member of the Texas Bar Association.

Personal Interests

Jeff is involved with coaching boys and girls youth football and basketball.
