Oleg holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Oleg is also an Enrolled Actuary approved by the Joint Board to perform actuarial services required under ERISA.

Experience and Education

Our Asset Liability Consultant, Oleg Sydyak, is a dedicated full-time employee whose sole responsibility is performing asset-liability modeling (ALM). Oleg is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and held the role of Managing Director, Head of Asset and Liability Strategy for PNC Capital Advisors in Chicago. He has also held positions at Towers Watson, Buck Consultants, and Ford Motor Company. Over the course of his career Oleg has performed hundreds of ALM studies. As a small example of his experience, he performed almost two hundred ALM studies for clients from 2013 to 2017. As a result of his extensive educational and professional background, we selected Oleg to join Mariner Institutional to help enhance the services and resources available to our clients. In addition, Oleg was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Oleg’s educational background and designations include:

Prior to joining the firm, Oleg was Senior ALM consultant at AndCo, an investment consulting firm acquired by Mariner. Oleg led the design and creation of ALM and LDI solutions for corporate and governmental pension plans by utilizing the advanced ALM and LDI analytic toolkit. While here, Oleg specialized on pension accounting rules pursuant to FASB, GASB, and IASB. He also focused on pension funding rules pursuant to ERISA, Pension Protections Act, and other pension regulations.

Oleg has an MBA in Analytic Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds a Maser of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa. Oleg has a Master of Science in Political Economy of Transition in Europe from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and International Management.

Personal Interests

Away from the office, Oleg enjoys playing volleyball, ping-pong and ice hockey.
