Kenny Pointer

Experience and education

Kenny Pointer serves as chief innovation officer at Mariner, where he leads the firm’s efforts to modernize and scale its operations, technology, services and capabilities. With a career spanning more than 25 years, most of it in the financial services sector and primarily in the RIA space, Kenny has become known for bridging the gap between technology and business operations, helping organizations improve operational efficiency and support strategic growth initiatives.

Before assuming his current role, Kenny served as chief services officer at Mariner, overseeing operations, technology platforms, enterprise shared services and information technology. Prior to Mariner, he held leadership roles at Charles Schwab, where he helped direct technology initiatives, and at Waddell & Reed/IVY Funds, where he focused on digital transformation and advisor operations. He also gained early career experience at Etelligent Consulting, a startup specializing in innovative portfolio management outsourcing solutions.

Kenny holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems from DeVry University, a Master of Business Administration from Baker University and a Master of Science in Management, also from Baker University.

Personal interests

Outside the office, Kenny is a devoted family man, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid athlete in his own right. When he’s not catching a game or getting out on the field himself, you can find him on his motorcycle or taking in a live show with his wife, Jessica.
