Experience and Education

Katie focuses on new business development. She works primarily with business owners and senior-level executives, helping them formulate and implement financial plans. She also works with nonprofits, foundations and institutions.

Katie began her career as a financial advisor with Piper Jaffray in 2006. Piper was acquired by UBS where she advanced to account vice president. Katie joined Mariner Wealth Advisors as a senior wealth manager in 2009 and migrated to the role of senior wealth consultant in 2010. She became a shareholder in 2015 and a principal in 2019.

Katie has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University.


In 2020, Katie was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager. In 2016, Katie was named one of the 2016 Women Who Mean Business by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Personal Interests

Katie serves on the Advancement Board for the University of Kansas Health System, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation Advisory Board and the Foundation Board for Johnson County Community College. In addition to her board commitments, she volunteers her time at her children’s grade school. She is part of the Kansas City Royals ownership group and a board member of the Dunn Family Council.

Katie Fitzgerald was selected by the Kansas City Business Journal’s panel of judges from over 140 applicants for the 2016 Women Who Mean Business award. To be eligible for the award, applicants must be engaged in for-profit business and be an entrepreneur, a top-ranking corporate woman in the Kansas City region, a partner leading a practice group or serve on an executive committee. The panel considered past accomplishments, plans to grow their companies and community involvement.

The Five Star Wealth Manager award is given by Five Star Professional. To receive the award, a wealth manager must satisfy 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria, including registration as an investment advisory representative, employment as a credentialed professional in the financial services industry for a minimum of five years, favorable regulatory and compliant history, firm review based on internal firm standards and accepting new clients. The award is not indicative of the wealth manager’s future performance. Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or placed in the final list of Five Star Wealth Managers.
