T. Brian Bennett

Experience and education

Brian is a seasoned senior institutional advisor with nearly 30 years of experience in the capital markets and financial services industries. At Mariner, he provides a range of advisory and brokerage services to institutional clients, including banks, credit unions and insurance companies. His areas of expertise include investment portfolio management and advisory, asset-liability management (ALM) consulting, mortgage servicing rights (MSR) valuations, portfolio analytics and investment accounting.

Prior to joining Mariner, Brian held senior leadership roles at several prominent capital markets firms. He served as registered principal and managing partner at Liberty Capital Group, senior vice president at D.A. Davidson and managing director and region head at Pierpont Capital Markets. Earlier in his career, he was managing director and head of the fixed income research division at SunTrust Bank, where he led the investment portfolio strategy, bond accounting and ALM consulting departments. In this capacity, Brian provided strategic consulting to many of these clients’ executive management teams, ALCOs and boards. He has also served on the Executive Management Committee and Board of Directors for NBC Capital Markets Group and held senior roles with Vining Sparks IBG and Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc.

Brian holds a degree in finance from the University of Memphis, where he graduated with honors.

Personal interests

Away from the office, Brian is actively involved in his church, community and youth sports. He enjoys traveling, staying active, fishing and spending quality time with family and friends. He has served as a mentor in the University of Memphis’s MILE Leadership Program, guiding high-performing MBA, Executive MBA, and International MBA students. Brian was a co-founder of the VIPER Volleyball Club, a junior Olympic-level volleyball program for young women between the ages of eleven and eighteen.
