Experience and education

Mike provides strategic leadership for his market, aligning teams, resources and culture to drive growth and enhance the client experience. He partners closely with local and regional leaders to support advisors, develop talent and ensure consistent execution of the firm’s mission and values.

Prior to joining Mariner, he was a founding partner with Channel Islands Group, a Ventura-based registered investment advisor. Before that he had his own firm utilizing LPL Financial and previously worked at Smith Barney which subsequently became Morgan Stanley.

Mike was also an active-duty officer in the U.S. Navy, serving in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom as a surface warfare officer, and stayed in the U.S. Navy Reserves until 2014, leaving as Commander.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the Naval Postgraduate School with an emphasis in manpower and system’s analysis.

Personal interests

Away from the office, Mike is an oenophile and amateur wine critic. He enjoys a myriad of athletic pursuits and spending time with his wife and three children.
